Country: France, Alsace
Tasting Notes: The yellow gold colour with its silky, coppery sheen is a poem in itself, an invitation to meditate that makes us impatient to smell and taste the wine. It has a rich and complex bouquet of over-ripe grapes, currants, sultanas, figs, dates, liquorice and zan, displayed with restful and reassuring harmony. Fleshy and juicy, it overwhelms the palate with richness and strength, yet this power is sheathed in elegance and velvet. This sweet, liqueur-like wine can already be enjoyed, but will keep for 10 years.
Varietal: 100% Pinot Gris
Pairing: Drink it with a terrine of foie gras, with pan fried foie gras and caramelised apple or quince, or at the end of the meal, just for the pleasure it brings.
