Country: Australia, Margaret River
Tasting Notes: Very much in the style of previous vintages of PIERRO Pinot yet with more body and depth of flavour – a spicy, peppery lift to the raspberry, strawberry flavours. It has the lightish frame and the fleshy texture of previous Vintages which give it a delicious immediacy. However, the addition of shiraz appears to indicate that it will develop complexity and further depth with up to five years cellaring. Perfect with Chinese roast duck especially when served slightly chilled on those warm balmy evenings.
Varietal: Blend of 85% Pinot Noir, 15% Shiraz
Pairing: Traditionally, duck is the perfect accompaniment and a crispy roast duck from your favourite Chinese is hard to beat. The subtlely and finesse of classy veal – a roasted shoulder served with a rich, concentrated jus and heaps of vegetables – would also be a cause of delight.
