Tasting Notes: The Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru is quintessential, triggered with an explosion of ebullient blueberry and blackberry fruit that is both sensual and joyous, here, almost like a Bonnes-Mares. The palate is medium-bodied with a soft velvety entry and then just when I am about to be seduced, there is the feeling that it needs more vertebrae. It loses substance and focus, as if all its energy was expended at the beginning. You end up finding more to savour within Louis Jadot’s excellent premier crus.
