Tasting Notes: Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Estournelles Saint-Jacques has a more expressive bouquet than the Lavaux at the moment, instantly revealing lush raspberry coulis and smudged strawberry scents interlaced with tertiary scents. The palate is tense and vibrant on the entry, underpinned by succulent tannins around a core of blackberry, Morello and redcurrant fruit struck through with a citric acidity. This is a classy, delicious Gevrey-Chambertin that will repay cellaring.
