Tasting Notes: The 2013 Volnay 1er Cru Clos de la Barre has a slightly gamey bouquet that opens generously in the glass: red cherries, strawberry and sage. The palate is medium-bodied with fine, grippy tannins and more density than the Santenots '13. This has very good weight on the finish, although at the moment it feels burly and does not quite have the finesse.
